Connected everything back up and feck me she started up 1st timel! Had the engine run up to full temperature to check fans kicking in ,lights, rev counter etc and all is working. I haven't ridden it yet so I can't confirm the speedo but I have no warning lights on the dash so I'm pretty confident. So all in all connecting the battery the wrong way knackered a 20amp fuse, the ecu and the starter solenoid diode.. Thanks to all those who gave advise and to chrisw for re-mapping the ecu. Going to have a nice cold beer to celebrate.. Roll on dry open roads. Cheers!
