Aye, he was never the same after Elizabeth Fraser - can't say as I blame him really!! Grace/Mystery White Boy bundled?? Way to go ~
Went to see Vintage Trouble in Brighton last week. Good fun Rythm n Blues, Blues plus bit of Rock thrown in for good measure. Think James Brown meets Rolling Stones for starters and you get the general idea. Highly recommended if you like that sort of thang.
Went to Reading Festival and saw The Cure... Was fantastic. Only thing that annoyed me was all the kids pushing down to the front past us all who had stood for an hour then moaned that after one song "don't like this band" or "Look at him he's well old!! he looks like he's going to die any moment" oh look he's trying to dance look at him go!" Taking the pee out of Robert Smiths speaking voice. In the end I got mad and told them if they don't like the band then F off and let the people who do listen!!!! That man must be bloody fit to play for 2hrs 30 and under those lights as he was sweating buckets! They went 30 mins over .. lots of encores. Really was something . Also been listening to The Adicts - Love Sucks - YouTube
Love the Cure. Got about 6 or so of their albums, 'Pornography' and 'All Mixed Up' are on the deck regularly. Their latest album is good.
Robert Smith and his music is fantastic but he does look old in his old get up - he really should move on and accept he's getting old, like we all do. His music wil not change because of it.
Had to drive to a meeting about 100 miles away yesterday, so listened to The Cure live at the Bestival CD all the way and most of the way back (it's pretty long). Brilliant. The amazing thing about the Cure, or Smith, is that they are responsible for some of the most atmospheric depressing music ever, and yet suddenly started penning all sorts of happy tunes some time in the 90s (or was it the late 80s?). And many of the happy love songs are also brilliant. So you end up with something like A Hundred Years which has you hunting around for the nearest noose, and then get Just Like Heaven which is really tender and sweet. Not many bands pull that off.
The Animals - please don't let me be misunderstood. I'm not sure why.. on a bit of a 60's kick today...
James blunt 'same mistake' now. have just been listening to Phil Collins while trying to pretend i'm over my ex.... she's trouble, always has been, but definitely exciting...ho hum, damn you face book.
not a huge fan of The Clash, although I do like London Calling. Meatloaf right now.. probably Placebo next.
I know just how you feel. I've had one of those days too. Cue up The Cure, Joy Division and any one of the really heavyweight depressing bands. Phil just isn't going to cut it.
