I've spent my entire post-pubescent life in love with Grace Slick as she looked circa 1970. She was older than my parents, but back then you couldn't tell. Or care. As for the pills your mother gave you not doing anything at all: the one's mine - eventually - gave me kept me and my mate up all night and well pleased with ourselves!
A link to the vid, this time (the 4:3 format without tops of heads chopped off). This is the evidence of why Janis Joplin is so highly-rated (once you get past the jarring intro).
This is what I remember as the first grown-up song I liked regardless of whether anyone else did - like when I became truly individual. And no-one else I knew showed any interest in it whatsoever. Of course, these days "I'll wear your ring" doesn't necessarily mean what John Denver intended.
I wasn’t an adult but as a boy I realised why my mother liked this when we lived in Cyprus in late 60’s and my father kept going away in his “jet plane” (RAF, flying Canberras, around Middle East etc)
Just "Wow!" Edit to add: I'm a big English Electric fan. And Avro de Havilland Vickers Handley Page not to mention Hawker Siddeley Supermarine Bristol Blackburn
Thread drift… HP Victor Mk1A XV Sqn RAF Cottesmore early 60’s. Father front right. “Target for tonight” was Sevastopol one way (thankfully, never called upon to carry out this mission otherwise we all wouldn’t be here today).
