Laid up in bed for the 5th day with covid catching up on old interviews and music. Tony Levin and Adrian Belew from King Crimson fascinating.
I have really varied musical tastes, from Zeppelin to Motown etc there’s loads of stuff I like, But here’s three from the mega talented Bonnie Raitt, first got into her when I bought the 2016 dig in deep CD,..this is a great track from it… And here she is on Jools Holland with an Inxs cover…”Need you tonight” So I started going backwards in her albums and found this beauty from 1977 would you believe!!…”Angel from Montgomery” Never realised she’d been going as long, she’s 73 now but like a fine wine, talent wise she’s just getting better, deserves her nickname of “ Queen of the slide” ( guitar that is ! )
Adrian Belew was involved in the early Talking Heads & Tony plays bass with all the best. Those guys, along with Fripp & Bill Bruford, are top top notch, see....
He was also in Zappa’s band around 1982 ish - saw him at Hammersmith Odeon. Never liked his dress sense though!
I have a double album of Zappa guitar solos and needless to say I have probably only listened to it all the way through two or three times.... Like Beefheart, out of an hour of their music perhaps 10 minutes is absolutely fantastic and the rest just hard work. And those 10 minutes will be a different 10 minutes for each of us.
