Yes I’ve read lots about them, went down a massive rabbit hole with them. Mathers it’s said wanted to record a 60’s sounding album but there were no recording studios with the equipment to record the sound he wanted. From memory the closest he ever got was a John Peel session recording. It could be argued that was probably the only album worth listening to should they have continued recording. The what if’s are for the birds for me though TBH. Powers made the correct decision IMO. For me it isn’t about H but people can interpret a song how they wish, the connection seems to come from the alleged use of drugs by Mathers and the one line within the song itself.
Paint it Black for me although I’m not a huge listener to the Stones. Did some work for company that dealt with them and they were very strict on how and when the project would start and need to be stripped off for the penalties for non compliance we’re eye watering. Not in the ‘Verve’ sense though.
