I was part of the launch test party in June 2012, One of the best things about this tyre was when it started to slide it was controllable, no shock slip-out, quick to warm up and the carcass is actually quite comfortable foe a Bridgestone, for those of you who run the BT023 be aware that although the T30 was classed as its replacement the mileage is a 20% loss in comparison, if you do a bit of commute but like sporty feel then great tyre vut becoming outdated by other brands, if your priority is mileage then there is better out there cheers Andy
I run PR4's on my 2008 R1 and got 5000 miles out of a rear which is the best I have every got out of a tyre, so I'm considering putting these on my dvt.
I had a VERY spirited ride to work this morning. It was one of those rides where you start off at a reasonable pace but as the ride progresses you start to realise that you're carrying more and more speed around the next bend - which on reflection I'd not really had on the OE Pirelli's, although I didn't think they were bad either. I'd managed to ride the Pirelli Scorpion's to the edge of the rear and I had no visible "chicken strips". This morning I was definitely going a lot quicker, turning in deeper into corners and carrying more speed. When I got to work I inspected the rear expecting to see no visible "Chicken Strips" and blow me if there wasn't at least 15mm of unexplored tyre contact. Damn! Needless to say I'm very happy with the confidence that the new T30 rear gives and I've got a new front coming on Thursday morning when I'll get it fitted before I head to Germany on Friday morning. I can wholly recommend the T30 Evo.
A lot of sports bike riders are putting them on their fast bikes, its ok to do and dont take this as a dig, if your bike is for fun only you should fit sports tyres to truly enjoy what the bike can do, Try M7RR's on the R1 you'll love the bike more I promise and yes maybe only 3-4k but your riding the bike with tyres designed for it, if commute on R1 then you just comprised lightness feeling for a bit more mileage, PR4's are great and on your DVT is an excellent choice, if your going to be luggage up or 2 up more than 50% of the time then put the GT version on, you'll get an extra 500-1k from rear so would be pair change every time, when you do ride single up the ride will feel a bit harder but I think you have electronic suspension so it should dial it out itself, Let me know how you get on with them, If you do change your mind then only move to Pirelli Angel GT's, any thing else may not give you the mileage or wet grip, Metz Z01's have been having some great reviews, I'm not in work at moment so not getting personal feedback, but we sold 36 sets of various Z01's, some on here have them on hopefully they'll catch this thread for you Cheers Andy

Andy, Would you say the PR4s are a better choice over the ST2? I will be riding with luggage some of the time, I do ride quite enthusiastically and don't have electronic suspension. Cheers Andy
Do you mean Avon Storm 2 ultra? They have been replaced by 3DX-M, PR4's still blow them out the water, go for standard fitment on DVT IF only occasional luggage, Cheers Andy
If you need the trail style for hot, country Portuguese style gritty roads then ensure you ask for PILOT RD 4 TRAIL, I reckon you'd be better off as your normal riding would be colder European weather on standard PR4's, Pirelli scorpion 2 has marmite feedback, PR4's usually ask for the same again Cheers Andy
I've put 800 miles on a pair of the new Metzeler Roadtech 01s and am really liking them. Loads of grip in the dry and I guess I'm about to find out how good they are in the wet over the next few days. I'm finding the turn-in speed to be pretty neutral - I don't think it's particularly slowed the steering down. Not sure if this is true or not, but it feels like the profile gives more rubber on the sides, allowing greater lean angle confidence than the Scorp IIs.
I got a new front T30 Evo fitted last week to match the rear and I've just come back from a 1200 mile trip to Germany. Andy, you were spot on. Loads of grip, lots of feedback and feel very stable under heavy braking ... and that turn-in ... wow! I couldn't recommend these highly enough. I didn't think the OE Pirelli's were bad as I was riding them all the way to the edges without really thinking about it but these have much more tyre to explore and therefore probably a lot safer over a wider range of lean angle.
Great to see you've found them suited to you, there're a great tyre and as you've seen the tyre rec's are very opinionated, who ever you listen to, make sure there're listening to what you want out of a tyre, the "Magican" is the guy that can see what you want to do and can marry it to the bike your on, enjoy what you've got and keep updating, next test is this lovely sun turning to flash rain, how do they handle the greasy roads? :Sorry:.........
Went through two sets of Scorpion 2's and found them to be a good tyre, but also found it way to easy to get to the edge on front and rear. Went for PR4's this time round, 2000 miles in and they're pretty much finished! I haven't done any touring or much commuting but thought they would last longer than that. I was getting 3200-3500 out of the Scorpions.
