Business Christmas do started yesterday, booking into a stunning house in the countryside for the twelve of us. Last night was a nice home cooked meal and lots of ale, followed by a fat breakfast and a hike of a few miles to the local pub for five hours. Just back and awaiting a former Masterchef winner to arrive and cook us dinner. Photos to follow…
Chicken doner/arsehole for me tonight, chili sauce, no purple cabbage (filthy stuff). Chips, obviously.
After another flare up with her gallstones resulting in us spending another night in A&E in the week I’m solidarity eating with the mrs so it’s a very low fat vegetable soup with a slice of rye bread, although my waistline will appreciate it so it’s not all bad
I’m so bad at (1) taking photographs of food and (2) remembering to take photographs of food, so these are as good as it gets, but was an incredible three hours of superb looking and tasting food. He created seven courses, taking account of all the individual preferences etc, brought everything including crockery, cutlery and cleared up afterwards. Great night for the twelve of us.
Another birthday celebration with friends for my wife’s upcoming 50th. She made an amazing beef bourguignon and my wife’s favorite carrot cake as her birthday cake.
Just got home and wifey is making the fried works The chef last night did a cracking job, but it was rich. here's some of the nine courses. My favourite which isn't shown was a mushroom consomme, which is posh for a tiny bowl of soup
Only ever had one of those nine course “tasting menus” , it was in Italy and although delicious it was too rich and much for me and the last course popped back out again. Intended for larger appetites than mine I think. 4-5, ideal.
Agreed! Plus, being a British chef, the portions were too big for 9 courses, but it was a nice experience for sure.
