Haha the 1199 sure is quick!!! I decided not to test ride the 899 last week, took a monster out instead.
The 899's are in short supply, the dealer aint kidding. Interested to see what you think re 899 & 1199. If i were to buy the 11, it would be totally standard. As much as Im sure the funky elec suspensions is great, I wouldnt be comfortable with it, Id rather bog standard suspension setup.
I reckon std version with aftermarket ohlins internals and shock the best solution. On 899 or 1199 If you want fancy on the fly suspension adj get a Multi or a S1000RR
I worked out a route of 45min taking in dual carriage ,30 ,40 fast A roads and a twisty B roads 899, perfect fuelling ,did find the rear hard for my 13 stone weight And the seat even harder.i can't fault this bike handles well plenty of poke for my liking,I like to stay sub 3 fig speeds ,maybe just dipping occasionally above,on private rds of course. 1199 unfortunately the demo had aftermarket end cans and map update Which was annoying as I wanted to judge the standard bike ,I can't afford to add these items on to the bike. I think I got this correct ?top gear 4k =80mph and there was a hint of hunting not enough to put me off buying the bike,but I could feel it. Now I was riding well within my limits I had £1000 excess to worry about.you could get the front to come up no problems at all with out really trying,I'm not talking big power wheelies ,just a few inches. On the B road oh my !! It was scrabbling for grip on some exits were I was a little to eager to get the power on and the front was going light nothing to serious but I think I could get my self into trouble on this type of road if I had one. So the 899 makes more sense for me and my type of riding , If you like your bikes a little loose then the 1199 ,it did have me chuckling to myself while riding it ,and it's great fun , You need to get out and try yer self , They are two totally different bikes to my mind Ps I keep telling myself go for the sensible option, Watch this space:-/
After weeks of deliberation , I finally made a decision Just put a deposit down on a 1199 I still think the 899 the better road bike for me:Banghead: But the deal I got on the 1199 was to good to refuse . I need an holiday to recover
