I haven't used any heat application or soap solution either. Absolute cleanliness is a pre-requisite and decent light, to ensure any bubbles are easier to spot and work out. Other than this, clean, dry fingers, dry conditions, a decent anti-static cloth and 'take your time'........
Applied them dry, no need for a soap solution as they are just a vinyl sticker. The hairdryer was just to warm them up a little because it was January so wouldn't recommend a heat gun as would be too hot.
Black wheels are definitely my favourite - need less cleaning and still look good (albeit from a distance) when covered in chainlube. A friend had a white frame 900SS and the back wheel always looked grotty even a few miles after cleaning - both my Ducatis have black wheels as I don't like cleaning them any more than absolutely necessary. The old Guzzi's got silver wheels but being a shaftie, no chainlube so stay (reasonably) clean. Not into rimming either...
I used some, and no giggling at the back now, Halfords reflective rim tape but only as a safety measure to be better seen in the dark winter months when commuting. I applied a couple of strips to each side spanning about 90 degrees or so to hopefully give a more err... eye catching effect. I see the red is still available at a bargain price with a free applicator. WooHoo https://www.halfords.com/motoring/m...7mm-reflective-wheel-stripe---red-553294.html
