  1. Runs for so long then goes on to one cylinder ...does sound like Coil sticks .....these are pencil coils and not plug leads ?

    You said you took plug lead out and it's got oil over it ?
    So down the spark plug hole it is full of oil ? Can you poke tissue down it and mop it up

    The oil in itself will not cause the spark to go to ground ...oil does not conduct electricity ,but the oil up the coil stick can make the sticks get hot and cause them to break down .

    The oil down the spark plug holes normally comes from the rubber gasket that sits in the rocker cover and seals the spark plug hole off . I see oil up to the top of spark plug holes all the time on cars due to leaking rocker cover sealing ring .

    Already said back there pulling the coil stick off one at a time tells you which cylinder is not firing ....no change when pulled = no firing cylinder , swap coils over and fault transfers points to coil fault .

    If this is all a bit much take it to the bike shop for the 'professionals ' to look at it ...... take the professionals bit with a pinch of salt .....hope you get it sorted out

  2. Are you loosing the battery now ? It didn't sound very good cranking over from the video , can you put battery on charge or have you jump leads and jump from a car battery or some such
     
  3. Sounds electrical based on what you said about wiggling the wires.

    My 2010 went down to one cylinder and it turned out to be a snapped cam in the engine. This was sorted under warranty.

    Sadly, when just out of warranty, I had the engine go in a big way. People talking about main bearing issues on the early models are not talking shite. Had a dealer unofficially tell me they won't take part ex with older multi's. My actual crank snapped in two. Mega damage and I was told by Ducati and dealer to pay myself as they didn't want to know. Upon inspection, main bearings were shot but the inspection couldn't tell if the snapped crank caused the bearings to go or vice versa. Either way, it just shouldn't have happened and it was labelled as poor manufacturing and paid out by finance company.

Yes I could hear it sounded slow cranking , so if now it's only sparking on one cylinder its really going to struggle to start that's why I say jump it with a battery so It can whizz it over with more residual current left over to run the management side . If the sprag clutch is shot or starter on its last legs or heavy cables from battery are glowing like an electric fire bar ....yes this will not help any .

    Yes it could be bad electrical connections or that could be coincidence that after wiggling stuff it started .....it may of started if you didn't wiggle anything .....you didn't wiggle anything on the video at the side of the road and yet it sometimes would just crank and sometimes fire

  9. Yep. Was a bit disappointed at the change at first. Done some mods with a new airbox and mapping and now wouldn't dream of another multi. It's mega! Handles better and probably only loses out a little to the multi at the top end. I'm not enjoying the loss of 20-30 miles of tank range though [emoji23]

    Anyway, don't meant to hijack threads, just posting my one cylinder experience.

With the white in the oil glass i am am afraid many do that ..it was horrendous when i did a 12 mile commute (6 each way)..... even on my current 60 mile (30 each way) commute during winter i would get the white in the oil and every night would let the bike hit 100 on the temp as i put it in the garage then open the filler cap to allow the moisture to evaporate ....its fine now its warmed up a bit but i have seen almost new DVT demo bikes at the showroom with white muck on the sightglass so dont jump to the head gasket worry ;)

  12. This happened to my pre DVT and my current DVT model . Doesn't seem quite as bad on DVT but still a bit of mayonnaise over the winter months, as my ride to work and back only 12 miles each way.
