When Organising Accommodation What Do You Look For?

Discussion in 'Touring' started by West Cork Paul, Mar 6, 2019.

  1. A bar. And a bed.

Whilst this is basically true, if you are seriously doing some research the following criteria apply:
    • I think secure parking is over-rated. I've never lost a bike in the last thirty years. Obviously, I'd like it to be secure if I was staying in Liverpool centre, but that seems unlikely
    • I prefer stopping somewhere with a restaurant, just in case I can't be arsed to go out looking for somewhere better, if I've been rained on all day
    • Bathroom. I'm too old for communal showers
    • Its important to be able to find it and I always pre-book as nothing dampens the spirits more than trying to find somewhere to stay and failing for three or four hours at the end of the day
    • I use booking.com whenever I can (apart from regular stopovers) as, if the hotel lets you down at the last minute, they will find you somewhere else. This I know from experience and I have been grateful.
    • Something to see in the nature of sight-seeing or perhaps a pleasant vista is a nice bonus, but not essential
