  2. Wasnt he in the Bill ;-)

  3. ah yes that was fantasy world too.......

  4. Well, call me a tightarse but for me to use my mates camera at weekend would have cost me £30 to replace his adhesive mounts as you have to purchase x5. I gave it a miss but we have now set up the mounts on his bike so ready to roll next weekend if its fine. Shame as we had a good blast out to the Fylde coast.

  5. Not heard of gaffa tape and cable ties?! Lol

  6. Your a tight arse

  7. I still want to buy one and figured the £30 would be better put to the purchase of my own camera. I will see what results we get from his and then commit myself to one. They are on offer @ £179 inc free extra battery for the 1080p drift. You would also require an SD card though. The external microphone is around £15.

  8. Cheers! I'm gonna take a look at that. I bought some wee brackets and washers etc and it's a no go. Been using the GoPro a lot but I'd settled on 3 options - front adhesive mount and rear adhesive mount that I've just left on the bike and I bought the suction cup from a mate which works brilliantly and gives a few more options.

I'm away to Applecross at the end of next week so I'll check this out ahead of that. Also seriously considering the chest harness...

  9. Had a wee read up on those. It's at the sort of price point that looks worth a go but the reviews I've read seem a bit hit and miss. This is the same story as the other roll bar type mounts I've seen from GoPro and others. How have you found it? Complaints seem to relate to mountain bikes where it will probably move more and be subjected to impacts rather than a forkleg or frame on a road bike where it will be more gentle movements, but at much higher speeds.

I can't help thinking £15 is ok if it turns out that I don't use it much or for occasional use, but £15 turns into a daft mistake if it fails and my GoPro ends up somewhere in a hedge in the Highlands. The GoPro one is more like £30 and doesn't sound like it's any different in design or performance to this Veho one.

I'll maybe invest in this and some cable ties... cover the bases a wee bit. ;)

  10. I've use the Veho one on my mountain bike as can been seen in this video. I have also used it on track and cant fault it. Its a bit bulkier than the GoPro one but it does the same job.

  11. Ach, I'm gonna go for that Veho one. It looks ideal, I see they use the same mounting interface thingymajig as the GoPro stuff so I'll keep an eye out for them as an alternative if I'm looking for more mounts. I think it'll be too small for the forkleg but it'll be able to go on the frame / subframe.

    Cheers.

  12. Aye, so that mount arrived today... here's what I got from a quick faff this evening. Liking this angle a lot!

  13. Nice one Andy, Enjoyed that angle.

  14. It needs a bit more time in setting it up as it was off the level a bit but this was just a quick trial run. I'll be able to get a better angle if I spend some more time setting it up. Hoping to mount it onto the shock dog bone thingy for a view right over the tyre, but that pesky number plate restricts the view a bit...

  15. At the risk of looking like an attention whore! I have some rear view subframe attached angles using the Veho mount

  16. No attention whoring here - it's all good idea sharing and learning as far as I'm concerned!

  17. Aye, liking that video mate. I'm hoping to try out a couple more angles soon with the kit I now have. One thing I still want is the chest harness, but I'm not really wanting to show the dash so might just forget that option altogether.

I'm heading over to the West coast next weekend and doing a proper lap of the Highlands - been too long since I last did this! - and I'm really hoping to get some good footage on that trip. Ultimately, most of my messing about so far has been to find what works and doesn't work so that when a trip like this comes along I can make the most of it and cut together some kind of montage / summary video of it all.

A favour for a mate at work has now presented me with the offer of a couple of loan GoPros to supplement my own... now this could get interesting (if I can figure out how to set them all up!) Not sure I'll do that though, one is nice and simple and quick to use.

Hoping to trial some more angles before the trip... but time and weather are currently conspiring to prevent much in the way of seat time.

  18. I made a little bracket and trapped it using one of the front wheel spindle pinch bolts then went for a rampage on my 250KTM and it looked good until I nailed it through a small ford but I might try something similar on the MTS one weekend and see how the roads looks from about 6" up at illegal speeds.

  19. Knocked this video up last night in about 10 minutes. It's using footage that I've already put on YouTube and it was the first half decent clip I could lay my hands on. I just wanted to have a play about with adding music as I'm not sure what happens with copyright etc. It's already come up with "Matched Third Party Content" but says the video is playable etc. so it seems ok.

I've seen quite a few videos on YouTube where there's a wee icon saying "Buy This Track On iTunes" or something similar. How do you go about doing that? I've asked a few folk by email and nobody has replied so I'm still none the wiser. Anybody know how you do this?

Wondering if I should be posting this stuff in another thread, or is it cool to keep posting camera and video related stuff in this one?

    Andy
