Which Desmosedici?

  1. Congrats, if you had ordered one on day one (any you had a 999R) they were £37,500

  2. Yes I remember that. I've never had a 999R ... but I do have a 996SPS which I need to decide what to do with. I'll wait till next year to make that decision.

  3. I just hope you're going to ride it Dave, it's an awesome machine and what a waste if you're not going to ride the thing

  4. Totally agree, nothing better than seeing them out on the road or track.

  5. Guess Christmas has come early!! Enjoy

  6. I disagree. It's in perfect condition, never even been started and it is an investment. I'm not going to throw all that away by riding it. It will take pride of place on display in my house.

    NOT!

I'll be riding it for sure. It won't be my only bike but it will get used as much as poss. The only doubt in my mind is Insurance - there aren't many companies out there who will cover these bikes and I have the small matter of a short ban on my licence. If I can't get insurance then I will keep it unregistered till the ban drops off my licence - even if it is a year or two - so that the 3 years warranty and free servicing will still be there.

  7. Congratulations on your new bike.

I enjoyed every minute of riding mine. So quick it made my eyes water!

Worth getting the fairings and wheels off and storing them in a safe place.

Catalyst composites in the USA do good quality replacement fairings, which you can have painted up.

OZ do nice forged alloys and the there are the BST Carbon jobs.

The stock forged Magnesiums are about £8k a pair.

  8. Why would you want to change wheels?

  9. To change rear to 17" instead of the standard 16" giving greater choice, i.e. more than one, of tyre

  10. Bonkers :)))

  11. Something I've been meaning to do for some time, when you're talking around £230+ for a rear tyre that lasts around a 1000 road miles it soon stacks up, after a few tyres you could have bought a set of 17's

  12. ...and if you want a vented clutch cover, I have one left which is an OEM one that we machine down to mill out the recessed parts to show the clutch.

  13. The stock wheels are £8k a pair and bring forged magnesium are pretty easy to wreck on our pot holed roads.

Also, as stated above, greater tyre choice

  14. Congrats on your new purchase! I hope you are successful in getting insurance, and we get to see it next year if we get the day at Castle Hedingham arranged. Oh and Nicky says " you must have a very understanding wife!"

  15. You have plenty of room Dave :)
    Where's it going?

  16. He has a very lovely wife
Donna is a very good friend of mine
;-) wonder what treat she is getting

  17. Hi Viv, I'm sure she is a lovely lady but I think I'd have to have won an awful lot of money to make that sort of investment! I'm not having a go here, I read the thread re his business, and wish him all the best with such a beautiful bike. As you say, she must be in for one hell of a treat herself!

  18. I dunno - what do you think?

Bedroom if I can get it up the stairs?
Loo under the stairs if it will fit?
In the lounge instead of the TV?

Realistically though - for ease of access it might just have to go in the hall

  19. Absolutely - no expense spared. In fact I've just picked-up an end-of-line bottle of Liebfraumilch from duty free. That'll keep the little lady happy :upyeah:
