I could just see it in the bedroom that room would be perfect not sure Donna would agree mind Hmmm the hall nope living room yes You lucky man choices choices
It would've been but they didn't have any. Seriously - I have a wonderful, very understanding wife ... and yes she has had a few treats already, with more to come.
Thanks for the mention Steve. Looks like I`m a bit late to offer any advise....... Dave. You are one lucky man, congratulations Martin will look after you well. If you need any further help Dave feel free to ask. As it happens I have just been asked to sell my own Desmo by the current seller........
Dave, Congratulations. Best bike I have ever owned or riden, simply awesome. Nothing else comes close. I love mine. 15,000mls of road and track later - it is just lightening quick. Happily PM me if you want any notes/pointers on anything. Have been through a fairly exhaustive learning on rectifiers, valve springs, suspension setup, oil consumption, GP7 fuelling, 17" rear wheels et al. Just bear in mind that the bike will come setup too low at the back and with mega stiff front fork springs. They hardly turn corners like that. Two mins of tweaks later they are good to go, but a little bit of respringing is usually necessary. Once setup, they handle phenominally too. But only when ridden at warp speed! At less than 50mph, it will feel horrid (but sound awesome nonetheless). At 70-170mph, it will feel sublime. Love mine. Might buy another if they all get cheaper again once out of warranty. But am going to see how much my 22,500 service costs first as warranty on mine will be up before I get to that, unless I ride the wheels off it before May-13! Am going to try though...... Congrats again. Nothing else comes close to the sensation, sound and experience of the Desmo. I really thought hard when getting mine as it is so expensive. It was a hard call. I never, ever regretted it once I had it. It's a keeper.
Go on Dave - you know you want it back! It's like crack...... once you have tried it...... Panigale is fun. But it's not a desmo is it??!!
Thanks - I sure will. I'll speak to Martin about GP7 fuelling. Other than that suspension set-up has to be the first thing. Low speed handling sounds like my 996SPS - but probably even MORE so. Royum has a lot of experience of riding one on our shitty Somerset roads so I'm hoping he can give me some pointers as well.
Dave, Ask Martin to make sure it has the later series updated ECU for the GP7 as a start. They issued a later version with a better map as the early one was terrible. But mine and most others that are well setup are done with a PCV and custom welded (in titanium!) lambda probes welded into the exhaust. Getting the idea here??!! Bottomless pit..... sportbikerider.com has base settings for most bikes BTW, and the ones they have for the Desmo are pretty good. At least their rear ride height and shock damping settings are pretty close to mine. Counterclockwise on the dial lifts the back. Ask him to see if he won't do you something on the 17" rear. 999r ones fit, Oz also nice (Dave had) and forged marchesini lovely (couldn't help myself!) but spendy. But the price of 5 rear tyres will pay for the wheel conversion and you will get through 5 tyres in a year if you use the bike much. Main pointers for bad roads is to avoid them! They will rattle your teeth out. Go to Europe, or to the track - or in Dave's case - both!
Mine was supposed to be coming with me on Sunday to Jerez....... but is poorly...... and resting at JHP (boo hoo - very sad) But still off to Jerez on Sunday on the other bike - so yiiiiippppppeeeeee!!!! very excited.

Dave, Ok then - from memory mine are as follows, but these are clearly my preference (although these are obviously to taste and subject to the right spring rates): Front - low speed comp 9, hi speed 11 and between 8 and 9 rebound Rear - low speed comp 15, hi speed 24, rebound 15 Front forks dropped 4mm Rear ride height approx 11mm column showing above the locknut on the adjuster (with a 16" rear) and approx 13mm with a 17" rear If you prefer you can leave forks as standard and go up corresponding amount on the rear. I also found that the oil height was way too low once I changed the springs to 9.5's and I have a 75 rear spring. I weigh 66kgs. Best, ChamMTB
Thanks very much  I rang Ducati Insurance today and gave them all my details. They are going to get back to me once they have spoken to their underwriters - should be Monday so fingers crossed.
They will get it organised for you Dave. They will no doubt need a tracking system fitted such as BikeTrac by Road Angel. Congratulations, you will love the experience
Yes - I've confirmed the need for a BikeTrac with them and Martin is getting one fitted for me - it looks pretty good Bike Trac by Road Angel Do you have anything to add re suspension? I'm a few stone heavier than ChamMTB (lightweight! :wink and our Somerset roads are rubbish so any tips would be appreciated. I gather these bikes are VERY sensitive to setup.
Very sensative Dave but when you get it dialled in it`s worth it. I am roughly the same weight as Cham and the settings he has given you are after it was re-sprung if I remember correctly. I would take it to your local Ohlins suspension guru, if you have one, and get them to take a good look at it. To say i`m slightly jealous is an understatement
Yes, I have Peak Performance and JHS as obvious candidates to choose from down here. I'll give both a ring and sound them out.
