Yes I know Rich well. The D16 is under warranty so has to go to an official workshop. I have been using JHP.
Just read this thread from beginning to end, I have to say Dave the build up was nice and intense....but ......... no grand finale!!! The delivery, the first ride, the first bill !!! etc.... I had a brief ride on one of these over Xmas, I seriousley doubted that I would be impressed other than to say, Yeah, quite nice. B BUT it is the best bike I have ever ridden (in context I have raced bikes my whole life but rarely ride/rode 750cc+..) At 6'1" and 103Kg's I simply could not believe how roomy it was, how comfortable the seating position was, the controls etc. The noise it made, the speed it goes......I think the best word was ...Fascinating....so much so that I would buy one in a heartbeat. Lovely. What it did do was show up my lovely k7 Gsxr750...and directly lead to me buying a 03 999s...waiting for delivery as we speak. I know the 999s is no comparison but it is a bit of the way towards the exotic end of the scale than from the Gsxr750. A real pity as the Suzuki is a comfy, fun, easy bike to ride and I have a funny feeling those traits will be "sorely" missed! Anyway, I look forward to hearing a bit more enthusiasm, photos and videos that were "promised" earlier in the thread!!!
Well said that man. I often chuckle when I read posts from people who say they are a dog to ride, slower than a 1098R, you have to sell internal organs to run them, it's like sitting on a razor blade etc. The 1st time I sat on mine, it reminded of me of the sitting position of an old GSXR1100, very relaxed and comfortable. It's stupidly fast, feels fantastic to ride and very light. A recent full service cost me £270 (my 1098s cost £330) They cost a couple of quid to buy and the insurance is a lot more than my 3 other bikes put together. You can't have it all I suppose.
Your 999 will be far more involving and rewarding to ride that your GSXR. Sometimes you writs will hurt and you will get pins and needles in your legs but all that bad points disappear the instant that road opens up
I'm sorry :frown: I have made a few posts elsewhere on the site but never updated here. My bad. Anyway - here is the delivery (not sue if I've posted this before)
I hope my post didn't sound grumpy! Was just excited to read the thread and then it sorted of faded away... Your living or owning my/our dream bike...the pressure on you to describe and document the experience is very high!!
The closest I have ever got to owning a Desmosedici was parking next to Dave last year at Gordano before the ride in to Bristol.
When is that this year....ironically a few years ago I was in the services at Gordano with my mate on my way down to buy a hypermotard (it was a leap of faith buy as id never ever considered owning a ducati) and there were loads there....I thought id skulk down and take a look....
Yeah - I did look it up....Saturday morning - might get there a bit earlier seeing as im really close, I can see the roof of Riders from my house so im not too far away...
