Had my R35 for a few years now, still looks like new. If you don't have a full pack, just tighten the expansion straps and you're sorted. I use a rucksack liner if I tour, but for day to day not had any issues with water seepage. Duke
Mine leaks like a sieve, i am going to take it back to my dealer as it is less than 1 year old. It ruined my wallet, diary and mobile phone
Nope, not the Rucksacs, only their Drybag range. I've had an R35 for over 5 years and it's still like new, BUT I always pack everything into a bin liner first.
The main compartment on the latest R30 model is claimed to be waterproof (it is a roll top, not zipped).
Well that has stumped me then as i have some 10s, and 20s and they are bone dry but i thought the rucksack would be too. What a waste of money buying that then when i could have bought a cheap one for £20
The 10s & 20s are part of their DryBag range, so hence being waterproof (got a 20 myself - really good). Fortunately from what Dave has just posted, they're finally making a waterproof Rucksack, although that doesn't help you - live & learn I guess.
guys get a tank bag or tail pack if you only need that amount of space. best not to have anything on your back if the worst happens!
Budha mate I beg to differ, in 2010 I had a massive off when hit by a pheasant at circa 90mph, I had a Kreiga 30 on and it stopped me rolling down the tarmac, so I just slid down the road on me back (until I flew accross the ditch and through the fence) it appears to act as a back protector and effectivly saved me.....only 4 ribs, 4 transverse process in back and punctured lung, the smashed shoulder was the result of the low side!! I think you are right re other backpacks but the kreiga with comp straps is SO tight to yer back its what saved me.....sadly that was its first outing, had only covered nine miles, and lets just say after the incident it was errrrr fooked......
Twango i am pleased it helped you out. I agree that kriega probably are the best rucksack out there espeicailly with their parachute type straps which do allow you to get a lovely close fit on your back , but its horses for courses etc so i would rather leave any luggage with the bike and let my expensive motorcycle kit and armour do its job as designed
Fair comment Bud, I will say I now use the DP tailpack and never replaced the Kreiga!!! So you are indeed correct in many respects....
Just ordered a R25 before seeing this thread...DOH! That said, following nearly 20 years biking and european tours on sports bikes etc. one advice I can give is don't carry too much weight on your back. It knackers you out and makes riding difficult. I generally take a smallish ruck sac and a tank bag. I bought 'another' bagster tank cover for the SF1098 and add to it my old and trusty tank bag too it. I put all the 'heavy' stuff in this and light stuff in the back pack. The 'R25' will be used for the sunny commute the the office with lap top and yearly trip to Barcelona with the boys. Greg
I have an R30 I use everyday on an off the bike. They are as good as everyone says they are! I h've had mine for 6-8 months now and it's one of the best pieces of kit I've bought. The R30 is the only one that is advertised as waterproof, and that's just the main compartment. Although I think you can get dry bags for other models. It's survived all sorts of weather and abuse (especially from the lack of a tea tray on my commuter monster). The only downside is that as I'm short 5'7" It can rest on the bike when I'm standing up and it's full. I came off in Clapham with a Ogio bag on, and the strap was ground away. I had no come back. I believe Kreiga will repair your bag in the event of damage (for a small fee if it's not a defect).
Received my R25 on saturday morning, put it straight into action as I had to pic my bike up from my parents and take it to my new abode. In spite of the bloody cold weather I stopped off in town to pick some bits and bobs up for a dinner party and although my initial thoughts of it being a tad small i can confirm it fits 2 bottles of white wine (dry Burgougne) 1/2 kg of green beans 1/2 kg of double fresh cream 1/2 kg of mixed olives 1 small bag full of keys, wallets, paperwork etc A couple of bike mags I phone (in optional bag that clips to strap and its really practical) It is really comfortable and I am happy with my choice, recommended.
I have an R35 and don't find it too large. You can always adjust the straps to tighten it up if it's half enpty, I think this is better than buying the smaller pack and finding that you don't have enough capacity one day. Once you get the adjust of the shoulder straps right, you won't even notice you have it on. It's a top quality piece of kit too. Very well made using top materials.
I used my R30 for the first time today 'in anger' on my 748 which has got jacked up pegs and a lowered set of bars so quite aggressive riding position Filled the thing with all my gym gear Really very impressed - doesnt feel big at all - compression straps keep everything small - the fit is brilliant - the chest straps dont foul the tank (was worried about this) -it doesnt move at all even when pressing on and hanging off. Doesnt foul the rear of my helmet either Really highly recommended I have used the tailpacks before and love them - this looks like it will be even better
