  1. My Dad had a Ford Anglia with vinyl seats which was so slow, molasses was jealous

  3. They were the car of the day, so easy to modify, every part from a cortina would fit, I put a Lotus Cortina engine in mine, with cortina back axle 4in wider, Consul Classic front suspension with disks!!!! and negative camber. Brilliant car.

  4. whilst I had the misfortune to buy a Rover 90 which did 16mpg going downhill..... :(:(:(

    it cost me £65, and after three months, I sold it to my uncle for £60 - it would be around 1974/5

  7. I was justifying a Metro because of the 6R4, but thought that was cheating, so went for something else.

  20. Mk1 Escort is a bit too obvious....my mate 30 odd years ago had a Hilman imp with gas adjustable shocks...only did 70 mph but, did 70mph round corners....
