Oh it doesn't bother me at all but my wife keeps moaning at me never being able to find a bike I want locally as she always gets to haul all the extras back
Had a nice weekend away with the mrs when i bought a bike in aberdeen. I was hsppy with the bike she was with a trip away.
I have an idea mate but don't feel its for me to divulge, put it this way, his reserve is what the main dealer has offered him, on that they obviously want to make a butty on it. They sold him and service the bike, they know what its worth.
I brought a 56plate 749 bip from J&L motorcycles back in November with 10000 miles on the clock with FDSH and never looked back. Fantastic bike. Ignore all the jap owners saying how bad they are. Mine starts every morning and after riding it through all the rain recently it's never missed a beat. I think the later(face lift)model looks slightly better with the red frame and black swing arm. Milage on the early bike wouldn't bother me at all as long as it's got plenty of history to back it up but if it was up to me I would go for the later one. I've got Michelin pures on mine and I feel like Troy bayliss every time I ride it!
After all your comments I realy want a later model now. I keep looking at the usual places. I saw a few 05 with later swingarm models sold for around 3.5K so I'm reluctant to pay more. I'm just playing the waiting game now for the right one to come up for sale
Ive had an 05 749s...some bike. hey are quitew awesome and stunning, despite what ppl say. The later model may seem temping to you, do maybe you wouldnt ride it as hard to get the "s" extras out of the engine. So that would mean case closed - later model.
The 05 with new swingarm is back up for sale from the dealers as their buyer didn't collect. The price is now £3500 no offers. it has 16000 miles n the clock fsh and only extra is a double bubble screen. There is an 05 but old swingarm model but with termi exhausts (half) open clutch, some carbon extras with 7500 Miles fsh for the same price (priate seller) Which one to go for ? I really like the look of the newer model but when you take into account the exhaust and other extras the older model seems the better deal to me.
Extras schmextras. Do you need an open clutch? I don't, which is why I don't have one. If it's a black bike (can't remember now if it is) then the exhaust is black and looks fine. It also makes quite a nice noise from stock (nothing like the whispering Ducatis that Multistradas and Diavels are from stock). Termis are nice, but then they should be at that price. Add in the other carbon baubles as and when. It's quite nice to have to do a bit of DIY customisation - makes it more personal. I prefer the later models. Has the private one got full service history? That's THE question, the answer to which may influence your choice. £3500 for one of these things seems like a lot of bike for the money at those mileages.
Yes they both have FSH and just had a recent service with belt changes. I don't "need" the open clutch and termis" but would like them and to add them onto the other bike I'm looking at at least an extra £500
It's a subjective question then. It all depends what the things are worth to you. Would you sooner have the extras and the older bike, or the lack of extras and the newer one? I'm not sure that the miles make that much difference in terms of wear. It will all depend how the miles were done, and that you cannot know.
It took me around 8 months to find a good 05+ red frame 749. They seem to seldom pop up and when they do they seem to get snapped up rather quick. I think folk are starting to look at these models now rather differently than they did when they rolled them out of the bologna factory. Be prepared to move fast when you see one.
