Which Would You Have Now......

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by monsteral, Nov 1, 2016.

  1. I knew that would hurt

  2. I always preferred the ''888 Superbike'' Era (Falappa, Roche, Polen, and early Foggy) to the ''916/996/998'' Era and think the 888 was WAY better lookin...
Ridin wise...the 888 SPS was a race bike for the road.... very light weight..incredible handling... not as much of the Ducati grunt but went like a rocket above 6000rpm....which meant goin fast everywhere..:sunglasses:
The Foggy Rep was more of a complete package for the road..more user friendly.. more lower down torque...wheelied easier...and was probably a touch faster...but faster is not always better...
SO which would i pick as my fave?.... Its gotta be the 888SPS... stunning looks, awesome top end power, incredible sound, fabulous character....and the best era of World Superbikes ! No Contest!

  3. Sounds excellent mate! My favourite production Ducati bar none!

  4. For investment and for the fact I followed Foggy around Europe when he was racing (no I wasn't his stalker), then I would love a Foggy rep. I would not like anything Ducati that isn't air cooled other than the above.

  5. Investment?? Have you seen how much 888SPS's go for. Thats if you can find one.... Ducati made 100 worldwide of which 16 came to the UK....most were used as race bikes so VERY FEW were used for the road... and they were £17000 in 1992......

  6. I wonder if you understand investment? You rarely gain buying something at the top price as you said with the 888sps. That is not investment, that is financial frippery.

Investment is seeing a potential increase and getting them while they are still reasonably cheap and on that my foggy rep suggestion still stands

  7. *doffs cap*

  8. 888sps' were £17K NEW but dropped in value before they started risin to the value they are now....double the original price! i'd say that's a good investment.
Foggy Reps were over 20k new then dropped in value pretty steeply (mine was a year old with 2000m priced 16K).....now you can pick a decent one up for 14K.....

  10. as it has a proper swing arm the 888 gets my vote :upyeah:

  11. Still got (the) hair ...not the beard....and still rock n rollin...

  13. Thank you for the figures but I wonder if I can point a few things out?

The question was only asked yesterday what two bikes would you have? Not when they were released, not when they dipped but yesterday and using your own figures I was correct and yesterday they were at their cheapest:grin:

I would point out though, it was simply a question asking people what two bikes till you went all Alan Anorak. May I humbly suggest, should you see a thread asking how many sugars you have in your coffee, avoid it.

  14. Ha ha...you're SO funny...:tearsofjoy:....
but you are right...i simply asked which bike would be preferred.....not which bank to put the investment money in....
Maybe i should have asked 'which bike would you own'....because it seems you thought i asked 'which bike would you sell':unamused:

  15. I've been told that before, do you know my ex wife:grinning:

Nope. you asked which 2 bikes, I said my two bikes and gave reasons for that. Nothing more. I always buy a bike with a thought of getting the best bike/value for when I sell it on. You may have noticed in this forum like so many. 99.9% of people never buy just one bike and ride that one bike only, till they can ride no more

  16. 888SPS all the way for the sheer pleasure of owning and riding something so special that most people wouldn't know what it was. The financial aspect is a nice thing but secondary to the buzz of ownership.

  17. without being pedantic I think you should reread the title and the original post. Thought it pretty clear (seemed to be to every on else that replied, perhaps with the exception of 1) that the question was "which would you own now?" No mention of investment.
then "which one is your favorite?".
clearly out of the 2 he had shown.
