Come race day at Valencia I want to see Flossi have a fair go at fighting for the Championship, otherwise we will never hear the end of it, & it will be a very hollow victory for Jorgay. I am by no means a fan of Flossi or his antics, but I am a fan of the sport & if Flossi starts from the rear of the grid it will do more harm than good, fans have or will pay good money to see the spectacle not a debacle. If Flossi does start from his qualifying position and wins the Championship, well that will be a big can of worms for DORNA to deal with, let alone the rioting in the streets of Valencia, I hope the crowd control measures are in place to keep people safe. Rumors are floating around that JL has lost his factory seat next year in the fall out from his post race actions. Shock MotoGp, Yamaha decided: Lorenzo chased, Jorge and Marquez together next season!
About time we had a shuffle. I'd like to see Jlo on another bike, one that has to be managed differently. That imho will be the test on if he is as great a rider as many think he is. Rossi won on different types of bike and adapted his style. Stoner was one-trick with honda and ducati, same with Jlo and yamaha. Marquez could well change at some point.
Bad for Yamaha if they do it. Top riders are hard to come by, where would they go for a pilot? The quote was “It will be hard to manage both Rossi and Lorenzo. Now it’s clear, something is broken.”. Well motorsport always seems to have 2 team mates who can't stand each other and the teams manage it. Let's face it, some of the best racing occurs when you have 2 people with a point to prove over each other are involved. The pressure of having to be top dog seems to get to them and before you know it they are at loggerheads. Mansell / Piquet....Senna / Prost.....Hamilton / Rosberg.....Rossi / Lorenzo (esp the early days).....Foggy / Chili. Even the team mates who seem cordial to one another, want desperately to win. I'd be surprised if Yamaha decide on a parting of the ways. They'd be left with a 37yr old Rossi and who else next year? I wouldn't be surprised to see Lorenzo leave at the end of his contract if he feels he's being poorly treated by Yamaha. After all, it was one spat of petulance directly after an emotion charged race. He didn't cover himself in glory, but hardly a hanging offence.
How much of this is Jlo deciding to go, and yamaha getting in first. Reckon he sees how powerful those homdas are and wants some. Bth tho, would Honda want no1 and 2 riders in their team? 1 and 4 probably works better for harmony and less risk of team mate battles.
I'd have to disagree with you on that point Bradders. He did things on a Ducati nobody else has come close to. Then jumped on a Honda and was flying straight away. I would like to see Lorenzo on another bike. It'd be interesting to see.
What I mean is the ducati and honda were same bikes to ride: big power, great brakes, corner speed doesnt work, square it all off. Yamaha is the opposite: down on power, great chassis for high mid corner speed, change direction quickly and composed. Rossi couldnt adapt to the ducati. Nironically, after marquez joined, he has adapted to the extent I reckon he could go as well as anyone on a ducati now
Yeah, I kind of get what you mean, very different to the Yamaha. I do think Stoner could have ridden anything though.
Stoner was world champion on a bike that no one else could ride...including (i will fix that bike in 20 minutes) old goat...he was a master.
Point proven. Thanks fellas. Point squirt no corner speed. For the same reasons Rossi couldn't ride it back then, they tried to get it covering. And stoner was right bloke right time. A yet later or even earlier no way would that Ducati have won. Rules suited it just like Michelin used to suit Honda more than anything Bridgestone suited the Ducati best
Loris Capirossi got 23 podiums on Ducati GP bikes, including six race wins, not to mention Troy Bayliss's race win. It's stretching a point to say that no one else but Stoner could ride it.
