White Leather

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Richard 1200, Jul 12, 2013.

  1. Leather can be dyed many colours but it cannot actually be dyed white - the nearest you can get is a sort of pale greyish shade. So for "white leather", the white surface is sprayed on (unlike black or most other colours) and once the surface layer has been worn off, it's gone. No kind of cleaning will bring it back. You could get the worn out bits resprayed by a specialist maybe.

  2. I've just cleaned mine with "Muc Off" and then fed with Dianese leather feed.

This question has been asked a number of times on Ducati Forums over the years and the same answers come up (PS not a critisism)
I have tried them all and they all work just about the same.

  3. Yep..........With Tippex............Oh, I forgot, I damned that already.......

  4. Who would be silly enough to wear white :)

What about leather furniture wipes they take off all the dirt on my leather sofa bloody kids!!!
    It's green and not cream

  5. Women look great in predominantly white one-pieces, which is why Dainese always make them.

  6. Best thing I've found is jif/ciff. Not a lot of effort needed to get the muck off, removed with a damp cloth & followed by leather feed.

    My jacket is spotless.

  7. ^whs. find yourself a saddlery shop. cheap(er) leather care products. Get some leather food too. Your leathers will love you long time.

  8. the gliptone cleaner and conditioners are very good (as are other horse tack products sadddle soap, dubbin etc)but as pete1950 said you will never get full gloss white back unless you get it re-coated

  9. Yep ^^ I also use the Gliptone products from the makers at Leather Care | Leather Cleaner for my furniture, car and bike gear - Good stuff and certified safe for Bike leathers apparently as it will not rot the stitching. They also make a Scuffmaster kit which they will colour match for you at no extra charge provided you can send a sample.

    hope this helps

  10. Baby wipes for sure, on any colour leather does an amazing cleaning job.

  11. Forgot to say that Gliptone's Scuffmaster kit is for restoring the colour surface of leather where it has worn away through age / abrasion. You can even recolour the entire item if that's you fancy. Their leather care products are for any colour leather of course

    hope this helps

  12. Baby Wipes are the invention of the 20th Century, I use them for everything, brilliant for cleaning motorbikes!
