Whiteways Tomorrow 1030

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by bradders, Apr 5, 2015.

  1. Understood Paul, I will wind some pre-load off and see how that goes. Don't understand how the cable tie is indicating that I'm using all the available travel though, unless it's slipped down on it's own!

Apologies to Roy, that's what my fingers meant to type, just came out wrong!

  2. Nor me if its that firm. Maybe it is just dropping down. Next time we'll go a bit faster so you can test it better lol

  3. You've got too much rebound damping fella, the shock is pumping down.

That'll be £20 for the consulatation, ta.

  7. He also has 27mm rider sag on a race shock...his description wasnt that it was choppy, more it was having him out the seat like it wasnt compressing. But seems odd if its using all the travel

  8. Sure you'll be fine :upyeah:

  9. Assuming it is using all the travel and that the cable tie isn't simply slipping down.

  10. We looked at it when we were back at Whiteways this eve, it doesnt look like 27mm sag when he sits on it more like 15mm

  11. Real race bike territory if it is.

Cant belive you lot must have missed my minger when I left the car park too...just got it into third before it came down...unlike Ron's ;)

    Pmsl

  12. I take it Ron is the one on the Corse SE, I think he was plane spoting most of the ride to Loomies as he kept putting his nose in the air :)

  13. I'm now pretty sure that I have the wrong spring for my weight.

I recon that at 85kg weight all kitted out, the 90Nm spring is too stiff for me. It feels to me that the shock isn't compressing enough, although the evidence of the cable tie says it is. I did try to clamp the cable tie as tight as possible around the shaft, but I suppose it could have slipped down as opposed to giving a true indication of travel.

I will try adjusting the pre-load to give 35mm rider sag first.

  14. See John's post...

  15. If you can get the right sag the srping should be ok as is, for the road anyway

  16. I thought we had changed his name :) Sorry Roy.

  17. Good to catch up with you all today, spring is here at last (no pun intended John  ) Nice to see 3 x 848's out together.

    Cheers Roy (AKA Ron)

  19. Cheers Roy,

Was really nice to have two identical bikes side by side especially when you don't see that particular model around very often.

Thanks gents for the ride thoroughly enjoyed it.
