Who Has Never Done And/or Would Like To Do A Novice Type Track Day Thing

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by chizel, Mar 8, 2015.

  1. havent got anything booked as yet but il let you know asap when we do.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. Depending on when in the year this is for I'm in.

  3. So first track day and thinking of pushing your limits? There was a guy on the other forum who 'tried out for Ducati' on his second trackday and broke his back. Keep pushing the limits for when you feel comfortably at the edge of your existing limit, no dramas, no scares, unless you are a natural that won't be trackday number 1

And if you think about crashing, its more likley you will

  4. knock hill anyone?

  5. As per Bradders; everyone who has not been on track seems to think that it is hardcore and extreme. It's the opposite if you have any sense, plus there's no traffic going in the other direction and the surface is perfect! It's the best place to ride your bike faster and be safe.

  6. I'm up for this. I'll get my camera ready.

  7. I saw on Bournemouth and Poole FB page last week someone had arranged a discount with RH Race School for a block booking.

My only track day was with Red Letter Days at Cadwell Park on a 748 about 18 years back. Crashed after 4 laps. Had my knee down at the time and the front end let go. I walked away (well, after an ambulance trip to be checked over in the health centre) with just stiff joints and ripped leathers and handed them back a broken 748.

I'd be up for trying another one, finances permitting, but either on somebody else's bike or my SRAD. My 996 is too pretty and I get the red mist.

  8. For a novice's first go, Bedford Autodrome is a good bet. Bedford is solely for trackdays - no racing there - and is set up for it. It's flat, so no hills to worry about. And the corners have good surfaced run-off areas, so even if you make a total cock of a corner you are unlikely to come to any harm.

  9. Just booked for a Taster session at Brands on 8th April as I want to have a go with my Triumph.
Been on a few of these in the past, an excellent way to start off and familiarize yourself with what happens on a track day without committing yourself to a full day, so that when you eventually go to do a full day you know what the score is an how much fun it is!
Vince get yourself on this one and we can ride over together!

  10. Through a company called Phil Bevan trackdays and with a forum I'm a regular on at www.therevcounter.com I arrange and help organise a TRC Extravaganza ever year, weekend of track stuff, beers and BBQ. Down at Pembrey, this year on the 1st Aug weekend. We often have 4-10 newbies to track in our group and it's a great laugh, all who've done the weekend have been back the year after.

Hire bikes can be very easily organised for the event too if you don't want to use your own.

  11. What's the cost for the weekend including bike hire?

  12. Each day on track is £100 for the day.

Track bike hire is I believe £200 per day but I can get that confirmed etc officially if you'd like ?

My commonly used I know if is
    SmallboyTrackbikes.co.uk - UK & Europe Trackbike Rental

Their prices include tyres, fuel etc. I could certainly sort a deal out with them.

  14. There's no pressure to ride fast on any trackday mate, that's the misconception people often make, it's supposed to be FUN. However it's so so easy to get wrapped up in all the bullshit and take it insanely seriously. Just ride at your own pace, enjoy it and you'll have a blast.

  15. Totally understood mate and yes that was my misconception. I've booked the taster at brands going with my mate John who I trust so it's all good

  16. Trust me Vince, I can predict 3 things.

1 We will be riding over there much faster than we will be on track.
2 Your face will hurt from grinning.
3 You will book up for a full day asap.
