...looks like I shall have to try harder. Hmmm...those R bikes, theyre not that great... dammit, even I dont believe that.
Totally agree Isaac Newton was one of the world's greatest ever scientists & mathematicians. Some sources claim his date of birth to be 4th January 1643, but the date of 25th December 1642 is correct according to the Julian Calendar that was in use in England at that time.
I get home on the 18th and putting up the (real, of course) tree will be the first of my many, many jobs that always accumulate when I'm away... Light bulb here, door frame there... oven door isn't closing properly, ironing board's not opening properly etc etc etc...
Ours went up yesterday - tree went up first and lights on - which I think was a starter for 10 with the neighbours as by the evening everyone's front windows round our house were done. Personally I like (got 3 kids, lost the older 2 to the santa malarkey but fair play theyre keeping schtum to my youngest one) who keeps asking for his list back from santa so he can make adjustments...had a couple of mince pies yesterday - testing the quality from aldi - the shit ones were shit and the nice ones were nice....to be expected...
Personally its my favourite time of the year.... 1. I don't have to drag my kids half way round the world/through airports etc etc to get to "relax" 2. My kids remain happy during the xmas spell as theyre just buzzing and get presents also, so they don't get bored like I the middle of the summer holidays...etc etc. 3. Wife is happy as she sees the kids happy, happy wife happy life.... 4. I get to laze around the house, eat, watch tv, don't have to do any diy, exercise/anything that I don't want to do. 5. Get to play computer games which during the rest of the year I really never get the chance - usually buy COD whatever at this time of the year - prezzie to me.... 6. The kids being happy enables me to sleep in, in the mornings for the full 10 days of my holiday.... 7. Because of all of the above I also get to hang around in the garage without fear of retribution. It really is all good...
Im talking actual time I can take a holiday - summer is the season, yes, agreed, nice as bike usage is frequent (for most but not for me) - im talking actual lazing around time....id rather have 10 days at home chilling out rather than 2 weeks in for example turkey fighting off waiter's trying to coax me in for a fucking meal....or sweating my arse off in Egypt or something like that...but that's the trade off - I get to keep my bikes - wife gets to choose the holidays....give and take....
Tree is going up tonight. Traditionally I open a bottle of wine and try to have it done before I fall over. Few fairies round here could take pride of place
On the 'holiday' thing couldn't agree more. Call me a grump but I fuggin hate going on holiday. They always leave me totally underwhelmed. Took 22 hours to get back from Turkey last month. I'd rather potter about the garage, go for a bike ride or a run or lay on the sofa with the remote watching the rain stotting off the windows.... Fat chance of that though. Holidays, they're shite!
So, what you all getting for Christmas? No lists, you get 1 item and no dreaming. I will start, I am getting naff all
There's nothing much I want that is (a) affordable or (b) that money could buy. So I'm not overly bothered. I'm more interested in what I'm giving (which sounds a bit sickly, but honestly I find it much more entertaining).
