spare a thought for the young lad i see every morning with out fail for the last year and a half on his 125. oban to at least ballachulish. (i spotted him there yesterday) so that's at least 37mls in all weather
999 and naked SS with polished alloy are tucked away for winter but the 907 comes out at weekends through winter especially over crimbo to get through traffic.
It will potentially turn him into a demon biker or make him buy a car when he's old enough.. Rated ( I did the same ( but less miles) for two full years when I was 16 , I can confirm I've got a car but remain a shit biker.. )
When I first passed my test in the winter of 2010 I did a 75 mile round trip to work each day on the 675 from the London borders to Cambridge. Going across the fens in the winter on the motorway was BRUTAL (granted nowhere near as brutal as the highlands id imagine) but it definitely, 100% made me a better rider, no question. From dealing with artic conditions to dealing with strong cross winds, torrential rain and such like, after 2 years I felt ready to deal with pretty much everything that came my way. (Well, until I started commuting round the m25. That just makes you want to curl up and die.)
tbh apart from the driving rain coastal routs aint to bad. you generally don't get to much in the way of frost and snow. you have to go inland for that.
I bought my bike last month, 2013 GT, used from a dealer. Live in Toronto, and we have been blessed with no snow to this point. Bad time to buy a bike but I have ridden it over the last 5 days straight, in the cold and rain. Also ride an 848. Would not ride the 848 in cold or rain unless I got caught out. I know it is very early for me with this bike but riding it is awesome! Just came back from the dealer. The heated grips did not work, replaced under warranty. 4•C outside and raining. Bike handled great! This might be one of the best bikes I have ridden and I have rode just about everything from Ducati in the past 2 1/2 years. Love sport bikes, just do not love how my back feels after 1 1/2 hours. I know why this bike gets the positive reviews, powerful, comfortable, just a great machine...
Can't wait to see a pic, picking mine up end of the month so it'll give me a good idea of what I'm in for!
Yep, using my mutley to commute daily on the island. its not big mileage but done 2,300 since June. Will get it off the rock as soon as i can next year. Planning to do WDW next year but no one to go with yet. Can I join up with anyone as would like some company. My first Ducati and loving it
My Multi is safely tucked up away from the nasty Winter roads. I did think though that with the very mild and wet conditions, the salt must be long gone. So if it's bright during the Xmas break, it'll be great to get some rides in. Meanwhile, both my sons ride their 125's in all weather, everyday, just like I used to do
Theres a 1199 pani around Portsmouth like that 899, no left hand side fairings, out in all weathers, a new twist on the phrase "winter hack" !
If that mantra actually worked JH, my mate's bike should be in showroom condition (I can tell you it ain't)
Ok, we've all been beaten and should hang our heads in shame. Riding over old street roundabout in London today and saw one commuter on his winter hack... A Kawasaki H2!!! First one I've seen in the wild.
