Here is a picture of my 848 track bike. I bought it last year because my Desmosedici is just too noisy for UK track days and I am dog slow on it. It is so stiff that I don't have enough talent or enough balls to push it hard enough to feel what it is doing on track. I borrowed a mates 848 for a few laps on my last trip to Portimao and I was immediately faster so that made up my mind for me. My first trip on the 848 was due to be Assen last year, but my Dad had a heart attack just before the trip so I didn't go. I'm off to Jerez in March and don't want to take the Desmosedici because I want it at home the following weekend for the Horsham Piazza Italia meet - so the 848 will get its first outing there. I've just got a second hand Sigma slipper clutch so with that fitted it should be good to go.
748 was always the bike I wanted, I have had quite a few others at the same time and before but I would always want to keep it. It's raw simple dry clutch desmoquatro Ducati goodness. I was always more keen on the feisty underdog, not the full fat standard issue choice. Same on other brands, always liked the 45 flattie over the pan.
I chose the 899 cos I love sports bikes and it's fantastic on the road, which is where I do my riding. I've chosen the Scrambler as a second bike for those days I just want to tootle about on my tod and it reminds me of the bikes I grew up with.
Because I'm getting older I've had R1 blade zzr1400 want something to commute and do a tour every year .had 1000 multi for 5 years .saturday got the multi 12 s touring because I test rode one and everything else I tried never got close
Always liked the 999 / 749 and nearly bought a nice 999 about 8 years ago. Bought blade instead as an easy to get on with every day bike - bloody good it was too tbh until I smacked the thing up! Anyway 14 months on and got back on 2 wheels again and had several diff bikes until found my gloss black 749 up for sale on here. Love at first sight - remembered how much I liked the look of these things. Swapped plus cash my 955 Daytona, plenty of tlc some nice tarty bits and I totally think it's one of the best bikes I've had. Rides nice, looks nice, sounds nice. Think it's the longest I've kept a bike
