Its a great piece of design. For example the 848 has 11 bolts on each side to take off a side panel. The Honda's about 3! Really well packaged....just a shame about the God awful stock exhaust.

Well im glad to hear that so many people really like the 749/999 style thats why i decided to buy one that & the price was right as they say also it is a Ducati & thats what its all about for me.
I'm inclined to agree. When the 999 came out I didn't like the looks. However, I was always interested - I mean it uses the Testastretta lump out of the 998 AND it's about 1 inch shorter in saddle which has always appealed to me I don't think he did Stan! I think he was just as interested in style. In fact, by his own admission, the 999 was probably ahead of it's time in the style stakes. Agreed with using the potential of my bike! I probably only get near 40% of the potential of my 998s - and I'm being kind to myself! I would recommend that you all read the book: Ducati 999 - Birth of a Legend by Alan Cathcart and Marc Cook. I just bought a copy off Fleabay and started to read it - very interesting and an enjoyable read. As I say above, I wasn't a 999 fan, but it is growing on me!....
