Why Does This Always Happen When They Are New?

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by EJG, Sep 23, 2017.

  1. Here is one my tyre dealer took a photo of. He refused to plug it but the owner brought it back in after someone else had plugged it for him....and it let go.

He keeps it to show customers asking for a repair what might happen.

  3. Yep, the same happened to me on a new tyre within the first 200 miles. I took the wheel of and took it to a local well know tyre repair company, they took the tyre of, patched it from the inside completely sealing the hole. I've since did over a 1000 miles on it with no issues at all. I have to say I know the company very well and trust them 100%, though. Just FYI.

  4. My m7rr on the rear of my zed i had repaired twice ( i did close to top end it with the first repair in there ) so i guess it was alright...had a repair done on the michelin on the rear of my hyper about 6 months ago...being used at the moment....its only got a top speed of 135 but ive been up there a few times.

  5. A few years ago I had a puncture at Snetterton, so I got a depot in Attleborough to take the tyre off the wheel and repair it using a mushroom. Air stayed in but I did not trust it for going on track though, so missed out on the trackday.

After I got home I had my local tyre fitters take off the tyre and check. The mushroom had not vulcanised properly and was coming away! They then repaired the tyre a second time, and this time did it properly. After that I trusted the repair to be OK and it lasted a long time.

  6. I dunno, if I was sold a squared off tyre with some straight-line cold tearing in it as new I'd be a bit upset :D

  7. You pays your money and takes your chances. I'm of the opinion that I always have them repaired and use them as normal. Out of 5 repairs I've never had a problem with any of them over the years. I always look at them when I swap the tyres for new and they have all been solid after the tyres were removed. So Ill keep having them repaired.
