1200 Will They Ever Fix The Faults

  1. In Step three I talk about adding two brake nipples to facilitate bleeding of any air trapped in the ABS unit.
You may choose to only add one nipple, it will just take longer to bleed.

  3. Ok, but is the second nipple for the rest of the rear brake circuit (from pedal to ABS) or for the front brake? Cause, I don't think there is enough room to install a nipple on the side. But if it's for the front brake how does that help to bleed the rear brake faster? I thought the ABS unit has two completely autonomous circuits for front and rear brakes.

  4. I fixed mine a year ago and it's still works great. All I did was crack the banjo bolts on top of my ABS pump and pumped the brakes a few times until fluid came out then tighten'd them back up, then took off my back wheel and and caliper turned it upside down and rested it on top of the rear disk and bled it like normal, put it back together and it's been fine since, so good infact if I press it to hard the rear wheel locks and the ABS kicks in.

  6. Thanks mate, been thinking of trying it this way, good to hear it works. The banjo bleeder would make it easier though. I have no issue with front brake, rear works good if I remember to pump it a time or two. I thought the front and rear ABS are linked somehow, probably only via controller and not hydraulic? Seems to be a lot of extra brake line to use ABS, without it almost a straight shot to the caliper and pretty level.

  7. I bled everything today, rear brake system, front brake system, and clutch. Seems the initial soft pedal is gone and it's working pretty fair. Cracked open the fitting on the ABS unit with pressure on the pedal and got fluid immediately, tightened it and pumped up again for good measure and cracked open again, got clear fluid. moved on to the rear caliper. Tried a vacuum bleeder with questionable results, then pulled vacuum on the system and pumped up the pedal and opened the bleeder, meh. Best results for me was to put hose on bleeder and put other end of hose in a jar with brake fluid in bottom, open bleeder and pump away keeping the MC reservoir full. Couple decent bubbles out with this and then clear fluid. All fluids were looking a little dark so changed them all, sucked a little air in the clutch due to not paying attention but got that out at the MC.
