Winter Cocoon

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Old rider, Dec 21, 2014.

  1. I'm an expert, as I had two large dehumidifiers working for two months when we had a major leak. And it was lovely and warm in that room. So get one, and it will be tropical :upyeah:

  2. For the record our government recognise that air sourced heat pumps (air conditioners in reverse) are +400% efficient and as such are recorded on the Micro regeneration scheme together with Solar panels and wind turbines.
Clearly physics says this cannot be possible, but if we reject the cooled air in the winter to the outside, then the warm air generated inside is 25% the cost of that generated with an electric heater.

  3. It all depends if your humidifier cycles hot/cold (most cheap ones don't).
    What controls does it have?
On most you set your desired humidity.
If that is a YES for yours then just leave it on.
It will turn on/off by its self.

  4. Paul, you are at best a consumer / user.....and I'm going to leave it there.

  5. Correct on the room being warm; you inadvertently followed the advice in #60.

  6. Hold on, consumers are experts aren't they?! This site is chocablock with them..

  7. A small toilet block would benefit from 60W unit for a single garage I'd recommend at least 120W and 250W for a double.
Note these are not very effective below 8°C, Chemical ones are better for unheated rooms, albeit 2-3 times the price.

  8. Please return to your Middle earth thread:D.....hand grenade launched there....:p

    1. Expert - a person who is very knowledgeable about or skilful in a particular area.
So NO, a consumer isn't an expert.
And I know I've set myself up for this one.

An "Ex" is a "has been" and a "spurt" is a "drip under pressure".

  9. Are you feeling streesed act? ;) all that pressure...lol

  11. Paul, can you put any of those low cost green house heaters in there (see earlier in the thread)?
Even 125W will increase the temperature, hopefully enough to take the air above dew point.
The bike is cold and the air is warmer, but getting colder when it gets into contact with the bike.
Heating the bike will help prevent this.

    Costs

Asssuming 14p / unit inc VAT.
Assuming 100% duty on the heater.
    £0.42 pence per day.

  12. I know I said I'm an expert, but a link to a cheap one wuld be useful ;)

  13. I wish I had a garage :(

  17. I kept my 1198 outside, under a cover, for 18 months. It managed fine. Should I message a moderator myself and ask to be banned from the forum, and save others the trouble?
