Would You Buy A Second Hand Helmet?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Drinky, Sep 3, 2016.

  1. I’m scared to ask but is there any other way to ride a horse other than it’s back?

    ;)

  2. I've never tried, but I hear it's been done.

  3. I think but don't know the pony (Rodney his name was) kicked me in the head as I fell, or we were jumping and so I might of given the fence a headbutt! I have no memory of it. I was wearing a riding hat but that never helped (I think, but don't know for sure).

With the bike crash, I was wearing an Arai full-face that for some mad reason was returned to me. It looks absolutely fine. Unless you know the history of the helmet then you would never know that it had been involved in a serious accident that resulted in me having a big brain bleed (I've seen the x-ray) caused, I presume, by my head stopping quickly but my brain kept going.

My ambition is to get riding again (I just need to get my driving license restored and my left leg stronger so that I can swing it over a bike seat) and when I do, I will replace the helmet with another brand new Arai (probably).

Yes, you could argue all day about whether the helmet did any good, but my view regarding my head is to get a new, quality helmet (like Arai, Shoei, Bell, etc) again.

Compared to the total cost of all of the new kit that I need to get, £500 odd is not a big issue for me. And I may well spend nearly £14k on a new bike.

  4. you can hang on to his head - although he might get a bit pissy with you!
