I forgot to mention that I had accidentally fitted a visor without a pin lock so I had to ride with the visor up. Which meant couldn’t ride fast enough to make decent progress as anything over about 60mph meant I had to close my eyes or the pain from the sleet and road grit being blasted into them got too much (my eyes were swollen more or less shut for a couple of days afterwards). Also, due to not having enough space to carry proper bike gear with me as well as all my work stuff during the day, I was just wearing a ski jacket over an armoured mesh jacket. I had to stop at every service station between Chippenham and London to try and stave off hypothermia by drinking a pint of hot chocolate, and at Reading services I was convulsing so badly from the cold that a man asked me if I needed an ambulance. I think the reason I crashed the bike in my yard was because I couldn’t feel my hands and my brain had turned to mush.

sorry.. i probably shouldn't laugh! ive had many a rough journey on a bike but i think yours takes the biscuit!
