Featured Would You Spend Your Wad On A Beautiful Escort?

  1. If the only alternative from the Ford Escort was another Ford, then how about the Mustang instead ?

I think there are some that are not quite as muscular as this 0ne - a bit more normal looking.

And this is only about £69,000.

So if you bought this car for £69,000 instead of the £400,000 Ford Escort, you could save yourself , erm, over £1 million pounds ! :D

  3. That’s a great angle for this car. I really like them but the back end is a bit crap imo…

  4. I had the same hope……..disappointed.

  5. On on eBay at the moment, with a very comprehensive description £7,700.

  6. I looked at lots of pictures from different angles - that was about the best angle.

They do have a lots of road presence, when you see them out on the roads.

  7. They sound good too… not that fast though… Great GT car :):upyeah:

  8. Ummmm, no! Too fat, too heavy, too ugly, and to top it all American ............. (rather buy a secondhand Mk3 Focus RS!)

  9. Hired a Mustang on one of our last trips to the USA; biggest disappointment of a car I've ever driven.

  11. Thought you were British?

  12. They can't be that bad for a road car. I just watched a UK review - in Wales. Seemed fine.

Anyway, if you are Australian - shouldn't you have been racing one of these instead of a Ford Escort ?

  13. Did Nav in a couple of Aussie cars, a Falcon XW GTHO V8 and a Monaro GTS350 V8. On the Ford side also a Capri Perana (South African Capri with a V8 Windsor engine), and along with the Pommie Escort also a UK TR7V8. All good fun :)

  14. A lad I know in Perth has one of those ‘Ute’ pick up things. Slammed, looks cool as. Has a 5.0 V8 under the bonnet, rear wheel drive. Handles like a supermarket trolley. Pretty useless car really, but it looks and sounds great!:upyeah:

  17. Migrated 34 years ago, did not leave England for any particular reason, it just seemed a good idea at the time! Must admit that on my various visits back on hols/visiting family etc, it does make me sad as to how things have gotten over there :(

  18. That looks like a lot of fun ! NSW maybe ?

I was in Australia - on a young person's six-month work visa. Hitch-hiked around, worked here and there - generally having little money.

Worked in Port Macquarie picking beans. One morning this big low slung car came down the dirt track, trying to keep its underside from hitting the ground. Everyone standing there watching it approach. It was a Ford (Falcon) Cobra. Australian blokes held this in very high regard - stuff of legend. Two lads were traveling round Australia in it - working as they went.

I had never heard of a Ford Cobra before. Aussies seemed to have a bit of a liking for V8 motors !

  19. I live in South Australia, the pics of the Falcon, TR7V8 and Escort are taken at a local tarmac rally; the pics of the Perana and Monaro are from Targa Tasmania.

Yep, Aussies do/did have a thing for V8's, tho I do not really understand their appeal! I did own one for a short time, a HSV Commodore, but found it to be rather ordinary, too lardy and not particularly good in the handling department (sold it to buy my first Subaru WRX) Some of the V8's have been changing hands for stupid money as there are now NO Australian car manufacturers left so nostalgia is pushing the prices up.
