Wrapping track fairings

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by MrAliT, Aug 5, 2013.

  1. +1 on the matt black, as you have to match the tank imo, and maybe carry that stripe thru the seat unit

  2. Very impressed and very envious! I love my 2013 paintjob, but really like the idea of having a quick to fit alternative for trackdays and just if you feel like swapping them for a few weeks.

    Nice job![/QUOTE]

got a full set of matched track fairings, seat and white tank sat in the garage gathering dust...

  3. Middle section should be black

    Top and bottom silver

    Just sayin

  4. Women!

  5. Right the logo and number boards for the sides are here. The boards have a nice carbon pinstrip around the outside....lovely! Fitting and cutting of new number boards to follow.

My friend also managed to get me an 'offcut' of matte black as well as some carbon to play about with. I'm thinking the cut-out air vents on the side could be finished in carbon as the original silver didn't stretch very well into the space. It was just too far for the material to go and its not stuck properly as a result.

I expect I'll have to leave the lower fairings red for the moment as I'm a bit pushed for time!

  9. So here it is. The red lower fairings are growing on me now. I think its because the logo is in red too. Still i have a feeling the lowers will end up black to match the tank. What do you think?

  10. Loose the red lower, carbon or black IMO. Don't like the white circle on the sides but love the number boards. Nice job:upyeah:

  12. Loving what you've done with it. A great job, but IMO you have to get a race number inside the number boards on the side fairings :upyeah:

  13. Yeah the side boards are VERY WHITE! The angle of the picture doesn't help either. Which number though?!

  14. That my friend, is up to you

  15. stop playing with it and get out and use it

  16. I think the lower would look better in carbon (or black) than red, but that's just my preference.
It really does look very, very good regardless!!

  17. Really like it, but agree with the comments above. I think it would benefit from black fairing lowers and without the number board on the sides. Otherwise, it looks cracking! The front and rear number boards look great, like the style of the brushed metal effect, subtle and purposeful looking.

    Big Grins!

  18. As the Actress said to the Bishop.

I'm going to do the lower fairings in black.....preferably carbon if I have enough. The more I look at it, the more the red seems wrong....and it was looking more right up till last night!. Ill do them then take a view on the side number boards.

Im really happy with the front and rear number boards and the carbon pin-striping (just carbon wrap, cut with a steel ruler and a scalpel) really sets them off.

  19. Did you just cut a long strip and apply it, bending round the corners, or did you cut to shape?

  20. Cut a long strip then stick. Im not 100% happy with the way mine has stuck down on one of tighter corners so ill redo that bit. Obviously the tighter the bend the trickier it is to get it flat.
