FYI and anyone else.... Mine is an 1199s This is similar. I had a " BBS " error. I came out from work 2 weeks ago, was pretty cold in fairness....about 2/3 degrees. Still shouldnt make any difference to the bike. Turned the key and got this " BBS! " error slap bang in the middle of the dash, and also engine management light, no neutral light either - The "N" for neutral was reading "-" sign, like a minus. The bike wouldnt start etc. I tried turning on / off a few times to no avail. I then called my ducati guy here and he told me to leave the bike in neutral and try starting with clutch in. This worked !! All the dash then went back to normal I have been on the bike since and it has been ok, but I aint ridden much due to weather. The sidestand switch before I bought few weeks ago, it as the bike wouldnt read neutral when i was out on the pre purchase test ride. Not sure if this is related. It went in for a diagnostic last week and all ok it seems from doing searches that damp / moisture can get into the black box unit under the riders seat and this could be the cause. ***king annoying. my 749's were the same. You are paying for the 'character' so you need to learn to pretend you like these 'incidents'
