Picked it up today. First impressions: noisier than the GT Air but not horrendously so. Minor movements of the head do effect screen noise on my 1190 where the Shoei made no difference. But it is a sports lid and its just as comfortable, much lighter and feels far less bulky. Cooler too. Even at 30 mph I can feel more air coming through and the field of view and peripheral vision in particular is better. I feel more involved and less enclosed and lifesavers are easier. And despite the sweaty heat, it didn't mist.. Ear plugs required but all in all, I'm pretty happy. Looks ace.
Tried the X-Lite on the Superduke now and its fine. A tiny bit more wind noise than the GT Air but it really is tiny. Very little in it and plenty quiet enough to be used as a touring lid. I changed the screen on my 1190 today. Fitted the screen and headlight mask from the 1290 Superadventure and now the X-lite is indistinguishable from the GT Air on that as well. The sensitivity to head position has gone and there's just the sound of clean air however I sit. So other than being more sensitive to wind noise from bad screens its to all intents and purposes as quiet as the GT Air and much lighter and cooler with better visibility. Chuffed.
I have wondered if the reason in the UK many just don't fancy a Nolan is due to the sisters. Which is ironic as I fancied all of them.
Me too. And oddly enough I most fancied the blonde one with the helmet hair. Sadly died 2013 form cancer.
Well after trying various different helmets including the X-Lite, I decided to give the GT Air a try. It was the best fitting helmet and most comfortable for me, especially with my glasses, so the order went in to the Superbikeshop on Friday and I'm expecting it to arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on with.
