Z1000 2014

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by comfysofa, Apr 5, 2015.

  1. Chris works his magic again....not a big gain power wise but there were apparently a lot of restrictions in 1st 2nd and 3rd which he removed which has made it to put it mildly "fucking violent in the lower gears" which is how it should be, but, this is control able as he sorted the fuel cut off also. No more back firing and no more juddering from a closed throttle to open....absolutely brilliant. Other stuff included O2 sensor removed, flapper motor marked offline, red line increased.

Here it is getting caned on the dyno....

And the tale of the tape....

  2. That's a substantial improvement in bottom end torque. That'll inject some fun.

  3. Well......I'll use the phrases Chris was using and parrot them off....

"It seems the secondary injector plates are restricted from opening from 7000 onwards....but, in 6th gear they open at 3000. So, I've copied the 6th gear mapping to the first 3 gears which'll make it....Well, fucking quick in the lower gears...."

And fuck me does it go...

  4. Could some one verify....If I'm seeing 145 at the back wheel I've read that allow 10-12% for loss in the drive train, so that would put it at 160....that puts it pretty high up there in the naked bike stakes...am I right in thinking that?

  5. I believe the print out is based on RW HP so yes 145 hp at the arse end :)

  6. I think 10% for a bike is a good estimate. Not sure if it's every been tested.

  7. My 1199s gained 2.5 torque from 8,000 revs right through to 10,500 I didnt think I would notice that when riding but by god I did so hell knows what your going through with an increase of 4 ft/lbs, thats one hell of a kick in the rear end.

  8. Just thought Id put this up....fitted a HM QS a few weeks back....the first time id ever used one was on the s1000r I test drove 6 months back. It was one of the only things that I liked about it....lots of fun. I would say the beemer qs seemed heavy on the foot (you really had to push it up to get it to shift) but, that might have been the fact that it was a new bike....a 15 plate from recollection (perhaps damodici can verify as he's got one).....anyway while hm don't specify one for mine I took a guestimated punt and bought one from a zx10r which fitted perfectly (all I needed was a shift rod to fit) apart from stripping the bike down to get it in the fitting only took 20 mins to actually get it in there.....

What fun. So much so that ive started the conversion on my RSV4 factory....its an old pre aprc version but the oem qs can be retro fitted to it and the ecu reconfigured to allow for it....which has ended up in me mowing through the best part of 500 quid....visit to fowlers Saturday morning for the race ecu to be updated on pads...

It is addictive banging it through the gears....top stuff.

  9. This just turned up in the post... Waited 3 weeks for it to be built.... Itll be getting fitted today. Nitron r3 shock with hpa. The rear shock (well the suspension in general on all zeds frlm 2003 onwards has been shite) how kawasaki could consistantly get it wrong every time with each generation i dont know but theyre you go. Having said that at least they put 636 forks on mine so they got it half right but the rear i think (general opinion) is awful... Which i can say it is...
