Jeez, I just like the sound of a petrol engine, V8, twin whatever, what’s wrong with that? I know Electric is the future of motorised travel, I don’t have to like it. Yes I am a dinosaur and I don’t really care what people think of me. It’s not happening for a while, Billions of £ needed for infrastructure and “we” are spending that on HS2 at moment.
Now i know in the long way up that we are supposed to believe that all the vehicles were plugged into a yurt in the middle of nowhere and they were all ready to go every day ,but of course in reality they had a bloody great diesel truck with mahoosive generator to keep the show on the road . But then i suppose if the trip had taken two years to complete as they waited to charge the bikes and trucks with solar power people might have got bored
The company that provided the electric trucks, "Rivian" https://rivian.com/ installed charging points along the whole way and left them to benefit the community. Sometimes they wheeled the bikes into hotel lobbies and plugged them in there overnight. The aim was to do the trip in 13 days (13 countries in 13 days). Of course this was all BS and the electric points were not really installed and the trip took years only charging up the bike from diesel generators. I am sure that if you write to the Long Way Up company and tell them that the whole thing was crap and you could write to Apple TV to tell them that they were ripped off, I am sure everyone would agree, meekly. They probably spent months spreading petrol on the Amazon Rainforest and burning it. I do accept that I am wrong and the fountain of knowledge is here. I shower every morning in fake hot water from a fake hot water heater and my electricity meter is fake. I watch fake programs on fake Apple TV. Global warming is fake and the ways to go is to have as loud an exhaust as possible and burn as much petrol as you can. It's fake news to suggest that carbon monoxide is lethal and a real man can only live by the smell and sound of a loud exhaust.
search for "Fischer". That's where I shared with the group that I had bought a Fischer Future Heat water heater to replace my faulty gas one. The overall view from the group was that I had been ripped off and would suffer in the future with massive electricity bills because they are fake crap. Along with most of the crap spoken here, I wasn't ripped off and they do exactly what they said thy would do. The fact that I can go and have a hot shower when there is a power cut was roundly disputed and I was told that I would suffer when I got my electricity bill - despite my bill only reflecting the meter readings that I provide. Actually, don't bother read it unless you want to a) lose the will to live, and b) prefer to live in the last century.
I will be getting some more money soon. The plan is to get solar panels (my roof is perfect South facing) to charge a Fischer battery and run Fischer room heaters, At the moment, I have night storage heaters but this means that I pay more for daytime power. Now, I am home all day, the need to dump night storage heaters is more pressing.
Yeah, if it were passed by the CAA no problem. I've been up in gliders and hot air balloons and tey didn't even have elektrikery!
And any plane can glide - they just can't ride a thermal to gain height like a glider!!! Or you can just stick with the feeling on this forum - that it is all fake and you can only fly if you burn a carbon fuel. No doubt one of you will want to 'phone Rolls-Royce on Monday o tell them that they are wasting their time:
In the very near future ,all new houses will be fitted with electric boilers etc to meet new building regs ,why all new houses are not fitted with solar panels ,as standard ,for heating and hot water is beyond me ,the cynic in me maybe thinks the energy companies would not be pleased . A mate of mine has solar panels and two storage batteries and his electric bill is minimal ,Btw is your Fischer water heater much cheaper to run than copper cylinder etc ?
The design of my house would make it very hard to install a hot water tank. It would need to go on the unheated ground floor garage giving me a nice warm garage unless it was really well lagged. Since I got the Fischer unit, I've got rid of gas and it means that I use about 2 more electrical units per day than I did before - so, about 12p per day for ALL of my hot water needs..
Why? I've dumped gas and got a water heater that works without power and uses 2 units of electricity per day for ALL of my hot water requirements. I'm not bitter as I am enjoying "Long Way Up", have hot water that copes with the two power cuts that we have had in the last three weeks. I survived an accident that the investigating officer expected to be a fatality and the surgeons changed their minds about cutting my leg off. I've got two private physios visiting me a week that I don't have to pay for, with one helping me with my diet and losing weight, the other a lady who is helping me fix Ducatis (although she doesn't realise this yet and I was going to say something about tits but controlled myself and backspaced!). Oh, and I've just got my music system working with bluetooth. And when the settlement comes, it will certainly fund a brand new bike. If you looking for bitter people then I think that you are looking the wrong way...
